Together with the Cacciarella Headland, the Pillars are the natural boundaries of Cala Grande setting it apart from the small coves and beaches following one another southward.
The promontory tall cliffs mark the northernmost point of the Mediterranean Sea where palmettoes, known also as the palms of Saint Peter Martyr, sprouted sontaneously from the rock.
