Argentario territory deserves to be visited, not only for its beaches and inlets, but also for walking trails that cross it.
Bike lovers, both road and off-road, will find enchanting places to spend days pedalling. Local cyclists and the Monte Argentario cycle group members have preserved the territory for years. Every spring they organize the Gran fondo dell'Argentario, a 42 kms dirt track mountain-bike race crossing the promontory, from Porto S. Stefano to Porto Ercole, a trail rising to 600 metre above sea-level.
Several tracks lead to Fortresses and sighting towers, which are positioned all over the promontory.
Those who wish to go for an easy ride with the familiy, can hire bikes at Feniglia Tombolo, and bike along the beach or ride the 20 kms to circumnavigate the Orbetello Lagoon.
Enduro bike lovers can enjoy the hi-tech downhill.
Road bike lovers can take the road connecting Porto S. Stefano and Porto Ercole and pedall uphill from the Passionists Convent to the Punta Telegrafo.
