The name of this small strand, which is among the favourite ones by the residents, reminds us that in the past it was enough to catch the train from Orbetello to reach Porto S. Stefano.
Shortly before the last tunnel, just at the back of the beach, there was the Casa Cantoniera (Roadman's House) where the "Director" lived. People used to call him director because he managed the little station a little further on, at the beginning of the town.
